WELCOME TO THE BLACKBERRY CENTER

We offer a holistic approach to addiction treatment & mental health.

How Do We Treat Dual Diagnosis?

The most effective dual diagnosis treatment addresses both mental health and addiction issues at the same time. These seemingly separate issues often feed off of one another, with each one worsening the symptoms of the other. That’s why your treatment needs to address both of these areas simultaneously.

There are commonalities among dual diagnosis treatment plans, but each facility is unique. Below you will find the most successful treatment methods in an effective dual diagnosis program.

Detoxification

If your body is physically reliant on drugs or alcohol, quitting at home by going cold turkey can be dangerous. At our treatment center, detoxification is the first step in our dual diagnosis treatment. You will be monitored by trained medical staff, including physicians, 24/7 for up to seven days. In certain cases, our medical staff may administer medication to keep you comfortable and safe during detox.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

If you are living with a dual diagnosis, then inpatient care may be best for you. Here, you will have access to addiction recovery support and mental health treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will also receive personalized therapy and education about the issues that affect your life. In this way, inpatient treatment will set you up for a lifelong recovery.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is plays a large role dual diagnosis treatment. These sessions will help you work through any past trauma and develop new, healthy coping skills. In short, this treatment modality will give you the tools to minimize your risk of relapse.

Medications

In some cases, our medical staff may suggest medication to help you manage the symptoms of your mental illness. Additionally, they will evaluate your current medications to ensure that none of them jeopardize your continued mental health or sobriety.

Self-Help and Support Groups

If you are living with both a mental illness and a substance use disorder, you may feel isolated. That’s the beauty of our support groups; they let you meet with people like you to share common experiences. By seeing the common behaviors caused by addiction and mental illness, you will know what to watch out for as you work on your long-term recovery.
